
Michael Van Brown, 64, of St. Simons Island, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at his residence. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Morningside Cemetery in Rochelle. Interment will follow the service.
Mr. Brown was a native of Glynn County, living on St. Simons Island for most of his life. He was born on October 15, 1949, in Brunswick, Georgia, to the late Walter Lanier Brown and the late Sara Kathleen Maxwell Brown. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Glynn Academy and attended Brunswick Junior College. Mr. Brown was an accomplished self-taught musician and performed with bands around the Southeast, with local combos and solo. His health cut his career short. He loved music, especially performers such as Chet Atkins and the Carpenters. He was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Simons Island.
In addition to Mr. Brown’s parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Brown McMillan.
Survivors include his cousin Sara Lou Lewis and her son, Billy Glenn Lewis, II, and grandson, Dylan Glenn Lewis, all of metro Atlanta. Mr. Brown will be missed by many friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
