Michael David “Mike” McMillan, 71, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Feb. 7, 2026. Mike was born Dec. 23, 1954 to loving parents, William “Cap” McMillan and Joyce Allison McMillan. He was raised in Cecil County, MD and graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1972. He later earned his MBA from Wilmington University.
Mike and his loving wife, Robin, of 48.5 years made their home in Newark, DE, where they raised their two daughters, Megan and Holly. Mike had a remarkable 41-year career with Terumo Medical Corporation, beginning at age 18 as a lab technician and retiring in 2015 as Vice President of Operations for Terumo Cardiovascular Systems Corporation. He traveled the world, forming friendships wherever he went. He poured his heart into delivering high-quality, innovative medical products and building relationships with everyone who shared that mission at Terumo.
Upon retirement, Mike and Robin moved to St Simons Island, GA, embracing their well-earned free time, filling it with travel, sunshine, family time, and service to the community. Mike volunteered as a veteran escort with Coastal Georgia Honor Flight, was a regular volunteer at MAP International, volunteered annually for the RSM Classic and devoted countless hours to building sets for The Island Players Theater, where he also spent a period of time as President of the board.
Mike had many passions and interests. Most of all, he enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. His garage workshop was his creative sanctuary where he loved building furniture and mastering every piece of equipment and tool he could get his hands on. Most recently, he and Robin created wooden Christmas trees together, which quickly sold out at local craft shows. It comforts Robin and his daughters to know that pieces of his creativity and joy brighten so many homes each holiday season.
Mike also enjoyed reading, Ford Mustangs, growing vegetables, and was an avid, lifelong fan of all Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles and the Phillies. He cherished the opportunity to play baseball alongside many Phillies players at the Phillies Dream Week in 1995 and 2003.
Mike was beyond proud of his daughters, supporting them beyond measure through every goal and dream, at every stage of life. Nothing brought him greater joy than his grandchildren, Michael and Mia. He always put his family first and filled their lives with quick humor, easy laughter, made-up songs, the best advice, and unwavering love and support.
Mike leaves a legacy of kindness, authenticity, humor, and deep devotion to his family. He will be profoundly missed. In addition to his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, he is survived by his brother, Stephen; his sons-in-law, Gregory and Marcel; and many beloved extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 20th, 6-8pm at Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave, Brunswick, GA. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday Feb. 21st, 11am at Lovely Lane Chapel, 1190 Arthur J Moore Dr, St Simons Island, GA with light refreshments and fellowship afterwards. Burial will be held privately.
As Mike so loved The Island Players Theater, should you wish to make a donation in Mike’s honor, please direct it to The Island Players, P.O. Box 20411, St Simons Island, GA 31522, in memory of Michael McMillan.
