Michael Stephen Mleko

Michael Stephen Mleko was born in Lansing Michigan to George Mleko & Sidonia (Sally) Jurstik Mleko on March 25, 1942. He attended St. Patrick's Catholic school in Portland, MI. Upon graduation he enrolled into the United States Marine Corp & he served in the United States Reserves until 1964. Michael married Victory Ann Darcy on June 16, 1962. They had 6 Children. Michael was a builder by trade. He built his first building when he was 17 years old. Since that time he has built over 700 houses in Michigan, Florida, and Georgia. He finished his last house in February 2023. He had the pleasure of serving as Mayor for Baraga, Michigan for approximately 10 years.

Michael was very active with Baraga American Legion Post 444 and proud to offer military funeral services for over 1000 of his fellow veterans in Michigan and Georgia. He would perform memorial services for Memorial Day and the 4th of July ceremonies. He was an active member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where he was proud to be an usher and help with the money collection.

Mike enjoyed bear, deer and goose hunting as well as fishing with his buddies in his younger years and with his children in his later years.

Michael loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild and his ever faithful fur baby, Little Man.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents George & Sally, his brother Charles Mleko, his nephews Shawn & Tom Mleko, his nieces Kim Mleko, Theresa Whitman, & Kelly Wolshied, his wife, Victory Ann Mleko, his beloved son Michael Lawrence Mleko, and his son in law Jeffrey Maki.

He is survived by his daughters: Tammy (Steve) Sholander, Suzanne Mleko, Michelle (Jeff) Maki, Vicky Lynn Mleko, and Christina (Steve) Demers. His grandchildren: Ronnie (Jennifer) Mleko, Joshua (Courtney) Sholander, Dylan Sholander, Shiloh (Alex) Crawford, Samantha Maki (Caleb), Nicole Maki (Dylan), Jenna Maki (Jeremiah), Shaylin (Tyler) Cunningham, Zachary (Mackinley) Demers. His great grandchildren: Jaiden Renfroe, Raelynn & Colton Sholander, Dylan Sholander Jr, Olivia & Noah Crawford, Cameron, McKynzie, & Corbin Mleko, Christina, Christopher, & Sawyer Cunningham. His brothers, sisters, nieces & nephews.
