Mildred Mitchell Kirkland

Mildred Mitchell Kirkland, 97, of Darien, Georgia died on June 12th, 2018 at Home Life on Glynco in Brunswick, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Jackson Luke and Levonia Frances Burk Mitchell of Morrow, Ga. Mildred was the youngest of 14 children. Her husband, Charles T. Kirkland died on January 30th, 2004. They were happily married for 64 years. Charles was employed by Ga. Power Company so they lived in Griffin, Ga for a number of years before moving to Darien, Ga. Mildred, a lifelong Baptist joined the First Baptist Church in Darien and was involved in every aspect of the church. She taught the Adult Women’s Sunday School Class for most of her adult life. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Mildred also enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren. She had a smile for everyone and was a true servant of the Lord. Mildred is survived by her children, Laura Kirkland Redding and Marsha Kirkland Rogers; grandchildren, Valerie Redding Craddock, Charles Rogers and Julie Redding James; great-grandchildren, Tommy Craddock, Olivia Craddock, Mitchell James, Rachel James, Gretchen James and Josie James and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18th at First Baptist Church of Darien at 10:00 AM with her Celebration of Life at 11:00.
