The funeral service will be held at Edo Miller & Sons on Friday, September 19 at 4PM with Pastor Kris Dockery, officiating.
Born in Barney, GA in 1931, Mollie grew up with a voice that carried the warmth of the South and a spirit as bright as the lipstick she never left home without. Friends and family will forever remember that drawl that could make the hardest news sound a little softer and her “Orange Flip” colored lipstick that became her signature. She married Thomas Lamar Long, Jr. on July 11, 1958, and had three children. They were together for 54 years prior to his passing.
To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she wasn’t just Mollie—she was Mimi, the heart of the family. Mimi’s hugs, stories, and sweet treats she’d always have in her purse will be treasured memories for generations.
Mollie’s life was stitched together with kindness, grit, and laughter. She poured her heart into her family and was instrumental in caring for many of her grandchildren. She was also a life-long reader and didn’t go far without a book or later in life, her Kindle.
Mollie is survived by three children: Danny Long, of Hortense, GA, Cathy Long Pringle, of Darien, GA, and David Lamar Long (Amy) of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Both her first granddaughter and first great-granddaughter bear her name.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lamar Long, Jr, her mother, Marie Hart Wise, and her life-long best friend, Betty Breeden.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Golden Isles for their care and support during the last months of her life. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
