Ouida Boyd Walker

Ouida was born in LaFayette, Alabama, November 28, 1946. The daughter of the late Robert T. Boyd, and the late Glenda Cotton Boyd, Ouida lived much of her formative life in Jefferson, Georgia.

Her survivors include her husband of 47 years Joe Walker, her son Wes, his wife Susanne, their children Benjamin (12) and Katherine (10) who reside in Bethesda, MD, her sister Elizabeth Boyd Danis who lives in Hingham, MA, and Butterbean, Ouida’s English Bulldog (7).

Ouida was a remarkably successful woman, wife, mother, and grandmother. Moreover, she was an educator for ten years, and then created successful businesses in both Massachusetts and Florida.

Ouida, a dedicated community leader, served as a Board Member for the Boston, MA Junior League, President of the Princeton, NJ YWCA, and Board Member for Jacksonville, FL Symphony Guild.

In accordance with her wishes, the immediate family held a private gathering, after which she was cremated.

For those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Ouida’s honor, the family would ask that you do so to the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, Massachusetts, that not only played a pivotal role in her care and treatment, but also continues to conduct break-through clinical research to defeat cancer.
