She was born August 15, 1934 in Tsingtao, China to USN Rear Admiral and Mrs. Beverly Randolph Harrison. She was a direct descendent of the presidential line of the Harrison family of Virginia. She was raised around the world during her father’s illustrious military career, and spent several years in Buenos Aires, Argentina, while her father served as senior U.S. Naval representative to the Argentine government. They relocated to Washington, D.C. where he served as Chief of Staff for the 11th Naval District. She graduated high school from Holton Arms in Bethesda, Maryland, an all-female college preparatory school attended by children of military elites including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Susan Ford. Her family retired to Coronado, California, where her father served as mayor, and she received a degree in Nursing from the University of Southern California. She was married to her beloved Frank (Francis Langston McGeachy--former USN Commander, Ret.), in 1954 at Christ Church, Coronado. They traveled around the world on military duty until 1972, when his final assignment took him to Brunswick, Georgia, where Frank served as Executive Officer and Commander in Chief for Glynco Naval Air Station. Together, they raised five children and were active members of the community and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. She was known for her gentle, caring spirit, and was adored beyond measure by her husband, children and grandchildren. Her greatest pleasure in life was serving those she loved, and offering tender, selfless care to those around her in need. At St. Marks, she served in extensive leadership roles, including President of both the Altar Guild and the Episcopal Church Women, several stints on the Church Vestry, two Rector Search Committees, the St. Marks Towers establishment committee, and the Pastoral Care Ministry. She was passionate about her church home and the people in it. After raising her children, she opened Career Placements, a professional executive search firm, where she enjoyed success for many years before retiring to enjoy her family and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by Frank, the love of her life for 56 years, a daughter Jennifer Susan McGeachy, and a newborn baby girl, Beverly Sue. She is survived by her daughter Janice Winifred McGeachy of California, Steven Francis McGeachy of Brunswick, John Harrison McGeachy and his wife Angie of Senoia, Ga., and Mary McGeachy Butin and her husband John of St. Simons Island. Her grandchildren are Jonathan McGeachy of Minnesota, Sarah, Ben and Walker Butin of St. Simons, and Riley, Olivia and Emily McGeachy of Senoia, Ga. A funeral and celebration of her life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, with reception immediately following. A family graveside service will precede the ceremony at Christ Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Building and Grounds Fund of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
