Ralph Kermit Buie

Ralph Kermit Buie, 89, of Brunswick, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at New Life Sanctuary, with Rev. Bill Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park with Kermit Buie, Howard Buie, Bruce Buie, Dale Buie, Tim Buie, and Dean Buie serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Buie’s grandsons and great grandsons, also, Warnie Hutcheson, Jack Kennedy, Frank Whisenant, Van Braue, Earl Odom, Billy Jones, Bruce Franklin, Mike Wilson, Carroll Cox, Eddie Cox, Joe Peeples, Marc Neu, Geoff May, Tony Brantley, Terry Rape, Sammy Cox and Bruce Garrett.

Born March 15, 1922 in Wayne County, Mr. Buie was the son of the late Vance and Bessie S. Buie, and attended Wayne County Schools. Mr. Buie was a US Army veteran serving his country during WWII. He completed his basic training in California, and was stationed at Key West, FL in Coast Artillery. After discharge from the Army, Mr. Buie became a construction worker and was employed by North Brothers Company of Savannah and Local 96. He was a former member of Golden Isles Church of God for 61 years, where he served as clerk and book keeper for over 20 years. He was also a charter member of New Life Sanctuary. Mr. Buie loved woodworking and was an avid fisherman and sports fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 27 years, Annie Irene Griffis Buie, the mother of their ten children, his second wife of 41 years, Ursa W. McEachin Buie, three brothers, Barnie Miller, L.V. Buie, Lenwood Buie, a sister, Ruby B. Anderson, a step son, Larry McEachin, three grandsons, Keith L. Buie, Kevin L. Buie, and Ryan Baxley.

Survivors include his children, Patricia Harrell and husband D.B. of Brunswick, Kermit Buie and wife Cheryl of Mt. Pleasant, Betty Zeigler and husband George, Howard Buie and wife Patricia, all of Brunswick, Peggy Garrison and husband Robbie of Waxhaw, NC, Mary Jones and husband Bill, Bruce Buie and wife Terri, Dale Buie and wife Bridgette, Timothy Buie and wife Joyce, Dana Faircloth and husband Quincy all of Brunswick, two step sons, Cadle McEachin and wife Alicia of Vidalia, and Daniel McEachin and wife Renee, of Tifton, a daughter in law, June McEachin of Hazlehurst, grandchildren, Susan H. Christian and husband Paul, Nancy H. Hamilton, Dean Buie and wife Sandra, Brett Buie, Lori Peacock and husband Billy, Tash Buie, Matthew Garrison, Scott Garrison, Taylor Garrison, Bradley Jones, Ryan Jones, Garrett Buie, Grayson Buie, Lauren Faircloth, and Abigail Faircloth, great grandchildren, Nicholas Hamilton, William Hamilton, Rachel Lowery and husband Stephan, Tyler Young, Breana Buie, Kason Buie, Andy Buie and Kevin Buie, and step grandchildren Shon McEachin, Eddie McEachin, Tammy Sharpe, Brian McEachin, Mark McEachin, Kimberly Dawson and several step great grandchildren, two brothers, Laverne Buie of Hoboken, and Thomas Buie and wife Jo of Rincon, and two sisters, Juanita Knowles and husband Hillard of Ringgold, Reba Dysert of Odom and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to New Life Sanctuary, American Cancer Society or Hospice of The Golden Isles. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening March 13, 2012 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. www.edomillerandsons.com
