

Reginald Emried Griner “Reggie”, 87, of St. Simons Island, Ga departed this life on Monday, May 15, 2023, at SGHS Brunswick Campus. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. May 22, 2023, at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens on St. Simons Island, Ga with Dr. Felix Haynes, and Rev. Jim Crandall officiating.
Born, February 2, 1936, in Waycross, Ga to the late Robert Edward and Madge W. Griner. Mr. Griner was a graduate of Glynn Academy Class of 1954 and served proudly in the Georgia Army National Guard. Mr. Griner worked in the family business, Griner Furniture Store, alongside his father for many years at a young age. He became a successful entrepreneur as co-owner of Sun Coast Paper & Chemical Company until his retirement. After retirement Mr. Griner enjoyed his avid hobby of participating in classic car shows with his family and friends showing his pride and joy, a 1949 Mercury, winning many top awards and accolades. He was a lifelong resident of Glynn County, a member of St. Simons First Baptist Church and a distinguished member of the Georgia Salzburger Society.
Survivors include his most beloved and precious wife of 68 years, Betty Griner, of St. Simons Island, Ga; two sons, Emried Griner of Brunswick, Ga and Bob Griner of St. Simons Island, Ga; a grandson, Jake Griner (Serena) of Scottsboro, Al; two granddaughters, Bailey and Lyndy Griner of St. Simons Island, Ga; two great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Griner was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Edward Griner “Kenny” of St. Simons Island, Ga.
