

Ricky was born on February 20th, 1957 in Brunswick, Georgia and attended Brunswick High School. At the age of 14, he started working at the family owned business, McDonald Marine Construction. Ricky would continue on with his career as a skilled Crane Operator and Superintendent with Tampa, Florida based company, Hayward Baker. On October 6th, 1984 he married the love of his life, Sandy and over the next 36 years shared 3 children, 5 grandchildren and unlimited precious memories. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Darien, Georgia. Ricky was a devoted father and cherished nothing more than his children. Ricky loved to travel, play golf, and was well learned in American and World History. To know Ricky was to love him and he will be deeply missed.
Ricky is survived by his loving wife, Sandy McDonald; his children Daniel Pearson (Jessica) of St. Marys, Georgia, Langley Ryals (David) of Jesup, Georgia and Zach McDonald of Shellman Bluff, Georgia; four grandchildren, Emily Pearson, Rylee Crawford, Easton Ryals, Jayden Jones and would have welcomed fifth, Landry Ryals in October; as well as numerous cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patrica McDonald; Father, Robert “Bobby” McDonald; and Sister, Terri McDonald.
Visitation will be held at Edo Miller’s and Sons Funeral Home Between 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, July 30, 2021. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 Saturday, July 31, 2021 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Darien, GA with the Reverend William Barton presiding. The inurnment will follow the service in St Andrews Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Operating Engineers Local 474.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the American Lung Association or NORD (National Organization of Rare Diseases).
