Robert Willis “Tuffy” Adams, 77 of St. Simons Island, died unexpectedly on November 3, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gloria “Gee Gee” Adams, his son Robby, his grandsons, Trip, Will and Austin; and great granddaughter, Neveah. Tuffy was predeceased, in 2018, by his twin brother, Richard Andrews “Butch.”
A native Atlantan, Tuffy was born on August 2, 1944 to the late Rosalyn Willis Adams and Edward Bowie Adams. He graduated from North Side High School, attended UGA and graduated from Georgia State University. He was an original Buckhead Boy.
A lifelong swimmer and avid golfer, he lived on St. Simons for many years. He was a former Deacon of St. Simons Presbyterian Church, a member of the Rotary Club of St. Simons and proud member of the “Attitude Adjustment Group.”
Tuffy retired from Levi Strauss after 30 years in the clothing industry. He then went on to found Bombay Shutters in Orlando, Fl.
Tuffy was always well dressed and had a positive outlook. He was a real “people person” with a big personality. His greatest joy was spending time with friends and family, especially on game day. He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Friday, November 12, 2021 at St. Simons Island Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia.
