After graduating high school, Robert immediately enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for three years. As he began raising his family, his commitment to service continued through the Air National Guard, followed by service in the United States Air Force, where he worked as a communications officer. In total, Robert devoted 35 years to the military. Even after retiring, his desire to serve never left him—he would have gladly remained in uniform if given the chance. His love of travel, which he often said was one of the great gifts of military life, remained with him throughout his years.
Alongside his military service, Robert was a master carpenter and builder whose skills were unmatched. There truly wasn’t anything he couldn’t do when it came to construction and carpentry. His work helped shape the community and included projects such as The Brunswick News, Marshes Edge, and many others. He took great pride in working with his hands and in doing things the right way.
Family was the center of Robert’s life. He was a steady presence, always willing to help and always there when he was needed. He and his wife, Mary, lovingly raised four of their grandchildren—Brittany, Katie, Tiffany, and Kris—a role he embraced fully and spoke of with pride. Known for being friendly, dependable, and hard-headed in the best way, Robert left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
In his free time, Robert enjoyed playing bingo, attending auctions, traveling, and building his impressive collections of baseball cards and pennies. He became an honorary member of the American Legion, where he especially enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with friends.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Mary Beach; daughters Beth Cady (Paul); sons Kenny Beach (Amanda) and Joseph Beach (Heather); his brother, William Beach; grandchildren, Brittany Dixon (Kevin), Tiffany Clark (Tony), Kayla Miller (Josh), Kristopher Beach, Leeza Beach, Leeanne Beach, Kensly Beach, Eli Beach, Leon Beach and Richard Jack (Gabby); and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Virginia Beach.
A public visitation will be held on December 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 p.m., both at Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens on St. Simons Island.
