

Robert Leland Moore, 79, a resident of Brunswick, died Sunday 10/10/10 in the Hospice of the Golden isles in Brunswick.
Mr. Moore was a native of Berlin, Georgia and had been a resident of Glynn County since 1943. He was employed with Georgia Power Company for 37 years and was a member of the Golden Isles Ambassadors of Ga. Power Co. He was a member of the Prime timers of the Golden Isles. He was a member of the Christian Renewal Center in Brunswick and the Believers Church in Statesboro. He was an active supporter of the Mission Ministers at Christian Renewal.
He was in the National Guard while in High School and then was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952 and served in the Korean Conflict on the West Coast, Alaska, Japan and Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by two sons, James Leland Moore and Russell Owens Moore.
Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Peggy Anne Owens Moore of Brunswick, two sons, Rev. Robert Scott Moore(Janet) of Statesboro and Joffre Louis Moore of Brunswick, two grandsons, Bradley Moore (Nikki) and Tyler Moore both of Statesboro, Ga., two granddaughters, Carmen Berg (Matthew) of Olympia, WA., and Marissa Anne Mercer (Tripp) of Tallahassee, Fl. Three sisters, Colleen D. Sellers of Brunswick, Bonnie Faye (Spencer) of Brunswick, Charlotte Ann Lair (Thomas) of San Antonio, TX., brother, David Louis (Fay) Moore of Brewton, Al., four brother-in-laws, Mitchell B. Owens (Sallie) of Jacksonville, Fl., Rev. James Barry Owens of Hazlehurst, Ga., Harry L. Owens of London, England and David Owens (Rhonda) of Brunswick, a sister-in-law, Frances Owens of Brunswick., three uncles, James Lingo (Imogene) of Hot Spring, AR, Mike Lingo (Chrystelle)) of Orange, TX., L. B. Moore of Adele, GA., many nieces and nephews and his beloved pet and companion “Baby”.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the Christian Renewal Center in Brunswick with Rev. Scott Moore, Rev. Barry Owens and Chaplain Pat Mc Cord officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick.
Active pallbearers will be: Tripp Mercer, Bradley Moore, Tyler Moore, Dennis Varnadoe, Sonny Watkins and Spencer Tait. Honorary pallbearers will be: Prime Timers of Golden isles, Georgia Power Ambassadors, Terry Stone, Angie Morris, Virginia Varnadoe, Dave and Rhonda Owens, Frances Owens, members Couple’s Oasis of Christian Renewal, nieces, nephews, and staff of Hospice of the Golden Isles..
The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:30 PM Tuesday night and request contributions to the Hospice of the Golden Isles, Christian Renewal Center or the building fund of the Believer’s Church in Statesboro, Ga. .
