Robert E. Lee Watson, Jr. (Bob) passed away on January 8, 2017 from cancer. Bob was born on October 15, 1949 in Brunswick, Georgia to the late Robert E. Lee Watson, Sr. and Imogene McDaniel Watson. He leaves behind his best friend, his wife of 44 years, Janice Marie Carter Watson. Bob is also survived by his sister, Jeanie Worthington (Phillip) and a large extended family.
Growing up Bob attended school up and down the east coast, going to 12 different schools in 12 years. He graduated from Brookhaven High School in Brookhaven, Mississippi as an honor student. Bob earned his BA degree from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia. He served 6 years in the Army National Guard in Brunswick, Georgia and Pensacola, Florida.
Bob had a great life and he enjoyed every moment. Bob greeted everyone with a smile. He never met a stranger, he would find what they had in common. He made many friends at Panera where he ate breakfast every day and at Publix during his daily trips. He and Janice loved to travel and some of his favorite things were Texas BBQ, Lone Star beer, NASCAR, and watching SEC football.
We would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at Baptist Medical Center ICU and ER, Northeast Florida Community Hospice Earl B. Hadlow Center, and especially Dr. Joseph Stepp for the outstanding care they gave Bob in the last month.
The celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 11:00 Friday, January 13, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Avenue, Brunswick, Georgia with Jacky Smith officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bob’s name to Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
