Sara M. Baxter

Sara McLain Baxter, 98 of Brunswick, Georgia was called home to her heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawton McLain and Sally Murphy McLain. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Baxter; a step daughter: Jane Adams and 8 siblings.

Sara was born in Baxley, Georgia and graduated from Glynn Academy in Brunswick. She was a resident of Brunswick for most of her life. She took a job at the Shipyard to help her country’s war efforts during WWII. After the war, she went to work at Crews Restaurant; her most treasured job was being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She also enjoyed baking cakes and giving them to her friends. She was an active member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church and a lady of strong faith. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by four children: Jack West (Neilia), Donnie West (Sherry), Sandy Hopper, Sherrie Morgan (Robbie), 13 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Due to the current COVID Pandemic a private service and visitation will be held with the immediate family. The private family funeral service to honor Sara’s life will begin at 1:00 PM Monday in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Johns officiating.
