A resident of Camden County, Sara lived on the Little Satilla River at Hickory Bluff, a home that has been in her family for over 60 years.
Sara was born in Ocilla Georgia on October 31, 1943 to the late Alfred Townsell and Ida Nell Womble Townsell. She was a 1961 graduate of Glynn Academy and earned her BA in business at Berry College in Rome, Georgia. It was there that she met her husband James Thomas Wilson. They were married for 54 years.
Sara worked for 11 years at Georgia Iron Works in Grovetown, Georgia and 18 years at Georgia Power Company in St. Marys and Brunswick. In addition to her husband, Sara is survived by her daughter Andrea Wilson Diconi, her husband Stefano and two grandsons Patrick and Benjamin who are residents of Springfield, Virginia.
Sara and James were ardent travelers, visiting 25 states, Canada, Mexico, and Italy. In addition, Sara loved being outdoors and planting new flowers in the spring. She was a passionate environmentalist, proud Democrat and animal lover. Her husband loved to make her laugh because for him there was no more beautiful sound. Her daughter will remember her thoughtfulness and the deep, abiding way Sara always made her feel loved. Her grandsons will miss the way she always made Christmas special for them, as it was her favorite holiday.
There will be a visitation time on December 11th at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. Sara will be buried in Manchester, Georgia in the Wilson family plot on December 12th. The service is open only to the immediate family.
