

Spencer Lillard Wiley, 74, died on December 6, 2016, at his Saint Simons Island home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on November 28, 1942 to Ernest E., Jr., and Janie Lardner Wiley. He graduated from University High School in West Los Angeles in 1960, and went on to earn his college degree from the University of Michigan. Spencer worked in the financial industry in many capacities, including trading government agency bonds with Goldman Sachs for many years in New York. In New York he also met his late wife Lovejoy Skinner, where they settled down and spent many loving years raising a family. He is preceded in death by his spouse Lovejoy, his parents Ernest and Janie, and his brother Earnest Earle Wiley, III. He is survived by his daughters Anne Wiley Alphonso (Irin), Henrietta (Rhetta) L. Wiley (Mary), 7 grandchildren Nicole, Ashton, Janie, Allison, Michael, Spencer, and Lucinda, 5 great-grandsons, and 6 great-granddaughters, a brother Lynford Lardner Wiley, and a nephew, Lynford Lardner Wiley, Jr. Spencer was a founding member of Ocean Forest Golf Club, and a long standing member of the Sea Island Club, the National Rifle Association, Kane Lodge Masonic brotherhood, and the Divers Action Network. He was also involved with a variety of clubs and charitable organizations on St. Simons Island, in Brunswick, and in New York. Spence was an accomplished marksman and scuba-diver, and an earnest golfer. He will be remembered for his puckish sense of humor and boundless charm. Heaven just got a lot funnier. The family would like to recognize the kindness of Christine Short, Donald Banks, and the caregivers of FirstLight Home Care and Hospice of the Golden Isles.
A service of remembrance will be held at the Cloister Chapel on Sea Island, Friday, December 9, 2016, at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow at Ocean Forest Golf Club. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in memory of Spencer L. Wiley to BrainREconnect, Inc., at http://www.brainreconnect.org/.
