Terry Lee Goodlett, born on May 30, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away tragically on March 8, 2026, in Valdosta, Georgia. He was 72 years old. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Terry’s life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his faith, his friends, and his community.
Enlisting as a very young man to support his fledgling family, Terry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. A combat veteran of the first Gulf War, he participated in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His commitment to protecting his unit and ensuring their safe return home exemplified his courage and sense of duty. After years of honorable service to his Nation, Terry retired with the rank of Master Sergeant, having received many commendations, including the Bronze Star Medal. He served the U.S. Army with dignity and pride.
From a young age, Terry displayed a passion for mechanics and creativity. He enjoyed building car engines alongside his brother Wayne during their youth and carried this love for tinkering throughout his life. Whether crafting engines for cars or even lawnmower racing later in life, Terry found joy in working with his hands. His workshop became a place where he not only pursued his hobbies but also extended kindness to friends and neighbors who sought his help. Always eager to lend a hand or share a tool, Terry embodied the spirit of generosity.
Music was another cherished part of Terry’s life. He loved playing the guitar for both his family and his church community. His music brought joy to those around him and has left lasting memories for those who love him.
Terry is survived by his widow, Luan; their daughter, Lacy; his eldest daughter, Michelle, and her mother, Deborah; two sisters, Sherry and Mary; four grandchildren—Riley, Reese, Adrian, and Emery; one great-grandson, Calson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends whom he considered family. He was predeceased by his parents Juanita and James Edward Goodlet and his brother Gary Wayne Goodlet.
Terry’s legacy is one of family, love, service, and kindness. He will be remembered as a caring friend who never hesitated to help others and as a man whose devotion to family knew no bounds. May the memory of Terry Lee Goodlett bring comfort to all who knew him.
