

Dr. Terry Inting Sarigumba, age 82, who was born in the Philippines and a native of Brunswick, Georgia for 47 years, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022 at Southeast Georgia Health Systems Brunswick Campus.
Terry was the high school Valedictorian from St. James College, Tagbilaran, Bohol, Philippines in 1963. He was a cum laude graduate of the University of the Philippines, earning a BS in Forestry in 1967. Terry obtained his Masters in Silviculture from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut and Ph.D. in Soil Science from the University of Florida, Gainesville, in 1974.
In the 60’s, Terry worked as a college instructor at the University of the Philippines. In 1969, he came the the U.S. to pursue his graduate degree education. After obtaining his PhD., Terry accepted the position of Research Forester with Brunswick Pulp and Paper. In 1988, Terry accepted a management position with Georgia Pacific, a position he held until his retirement in 2002.
Terry served as President of the Philippine American Academy of Science and Engineering. He was founder and first president of the Golden Isles Filipino American Association and co-founder and first Grand Varron of the UP College of Forestry Varrons, Ltd. His many memberships include the USDA Forestry Research Advisor Council, President/Board member of the Philippine Academy of Science and Engineering and was a member of the Knights of Rizal, Jacksonville Florida Chapter, just to name a few. He also authored and co-authored several technical articles and books, and served as a keynote and guest speaker at many events.
Outside of work, Terry enjoyed coaching soccer and basketball and assisting his sons in oratorical competitions and science projects. He was Eucharistic Minister, Lector and RCIA lecturer at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He was an avid gardener and lover of animals, particularly the many pets he took care of over the years.
Terry is survived by his wife, of 52 years, Nattie Sarigumba; three sons, Edzel Sarigumba (Valerie) of Irvine, California, Glenn Sarigumba (Karla) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Dean Sarigumba (Robin) of Clearwater, Florida; eight grandchildren, Dominic Terry Sarigumba, Mitchell Simon Sarigumba, Noelle Carol Sarigumba, Abigail Marie Sarigumba, Sebastian Vance Sarigumba, Madeline Kaye Sarigumba, Ian Scott McSwain and Nathan Edward McSwain and two sisters, Rosita Sarigumba and Lym Sarigumba, both of whom lives in the Philippines.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, February 18, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Edzel Sarigumba, Glenn Sarigumba, Dean Sarigumba, Dominic Sarigumba, Mitchell Sarigumba, Sebastian Sarigumba, Nathan McSwain and Ian McSwain. The service will be Livestream through St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church's Facebook page.
