

Thomas Holmes, 54, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Sept. 20,2024. He was a life-long resident of Brunswick, Ga. He along with his family were active members of College Place United Methodist Church for many years where he enjoyed participating in the choir. Later in life he worshipped at Community Church Brunswick.
Tom graduated from Brunswick High School in 1989. During his high school years, he participated in band and show choir which inspired his fondness of music. He loved music (especially 80’s pop), TV, and movies. Over the years he amassed quite a collection of music and movies starting with vhs , cassettes, albums, and finally cd’s and dvd’s. He was the guy you wanted on your team if you were doing “Pop Trivia”. He was an ultimate Prince fan and thoroughly loved all things Prince.
Tom spent the past twenty years in the local security industry most recently working with St. Moritz Security. Other employers over the years were Magnolia Manor and Sears Manor nursing homes, Suncoast Paper and local call centers. He additionally had the privilege of being the caretaker for both his parents in their latter years.
Tom was pre-deceased by parents Steve and Sue Holmes and brothers John Holmes of Brunswick ,Ga. and David Holmes of Tybee Island, Ga. He is survived by sisters Doris Jones (Rick) and Beth Cain (Andy) both of Brunswick, Ga. He is also survived by his special nephew Chris Jones (Claire) of Savannah Ga, nephew Stephen Cain, Brunswick, Ga, nieces Shanna Giles (Robert) Brunswick, Ga. and Sarah Crosby (Stephen) of Valdosta Ga. He was especially proud of his great nieces and nephews: Candice Cain, Avery Crosby, Jonah Jones and Slayton Crosby.
Tom’s family would like to express their appreciation to the following individuals and facilities who cared for Tom so lovingly during his battle with cancer: Dr. Duane Moores and staff, the Brunswick Cancer Care Center especially chemo nurse Shelly and nutritionist Romaine, the nurses and staff of SSI Tower 4th floor, and the staff of the Senior Care Center St. Mary’s, Ga.
Tom was a cat lover and rescued many special cats during his lifetime. Friends and relatives wishing to honor Tom’s memory can do so by rescuing a cat from a shelter or donating to our local Humane society of South Coastal Ga.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
