

Thomas (Tom) R. Joiner, 76, of Brunswick, Ga. has left this world and went to heaven to be with the father April 8th, 2016 at 12:04pm. Tom was born December 19, 1939 in Macon, Ga. Tom moved to the Golden Isles with his family as a young man. He was a proud graduate of Glynn Academy’s class of 1958.
Tom and his family lived on St. Simon during his adolescent years growing up. This is where it all happened! St. Simons Island Drug Store is where he met her. He later married the one and only love of his life Mary Theresa Goebel Joiner on January 13, 1961. They had a wonderful life together making many loving memories. She will keep those memories in her heart and she will cherish them until they are reunited again in heaven. He was a loyal and faithful husband for the 55 years of their marriage and he loved her unconditionally. He was a protective and loving husband. He spent his whole life making sure that she was safe and that she always had everything that she needed.
In addition to his wife Tom is survived by his two brothers and a sister, Rusty Joiner, Cheryl Joiner and Ronald Joiner; his three sons, Randy Joiner, Ricky Joiner and Ronnie Joiner; four grand-children, Maria Joiner Bourget, Tommy Joiner, Aj Joiner, and Aaron Joiner; four great grand-children, Haley Bridges, Caleb Bridges, Bentley Bourget and Brayden Joiner. He was a dedicated parent and was the best father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather that anyone could have ever had and he will be sincerely missed by us all.
Tom was a veteran of the Unites States Air Force and served from 1959 until 1963, and received an honorable discharge. He was a true patriot and loved his country. He was a proud and loyal member of the Sons of the Confederacy. He was an avid sport fisherman and loved the rivers and creeks of coastal Ga. Trout Fishing was his favorite and he loved to see that cork go down. He was a lover of animals and took in every stray that ever crossed his path. He was an honest, true, and loyal friend to all who knew him and he would never hesitate to give anyone in need the shirt off his back. The world could use many more men of his character and moral standards and it has lost a great and wonderful man.
Graveside services with be held April 12, 2016 at 2:00PM at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery with a reception to follow at Our Lady of the Nativity on Hwy. 17 in Darien, Ga. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or donations may be made to the charity of choice in Thomas R. Joiner’s memory.
The family and loved ones thank all who attend in advance and appreciate all prayers and support.
