Virginia Hutson Redding Schimmel

Virginia Hutson Redding Schimmel, of Brunswick, GA died Friday the 5th of April 2013 at Gracemore Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Brunswick, GA. A private Inurnment service will be held with Pastor Ken Creekmore officiating.

Mrs. Schimmel is a native of Macon, GA. She resided most of her life in Dundee, ILL and had been a resident of Brunswick, GA since 1970. She attended Shorter College in Rome, GA and Wesleyan College in Macon, GA. Mrs. Schimmel was a member of the Cassino Garden Club, Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, and Coastal Georgia Historical Society. Mrs. Schimmel was also a member of St. Simons Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Schimmel is preceded in death by her parents Edward B. Redding and Virginia Hutson Redding, her brother David B. Redding, her husband Dr. Walter August Schimmel, two sons Douglas W. Schimmel and John S. Schimmel.

Survivors include her daughter Anne McDonald (Paul) of Brunswick, GA; her son David W. Schimmel of Columbus, Wisconsin; locally her granddaughter Rachel McDonald; and a great- granddaughter Penelope; She is also survived by a nephew and two nieces. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
