Vonnis Boatright

Vonnis was born on February 1, 1939, in Alma, Georgia, to the late Earnest Marion “Doc” Boatright and Jessie Middleton McCarthy. She was also preceded in death by her seven brothers and two sisters.

She shared a remarkable 67 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Fred Stanley Boatright, who survives her in Brunswick.

Vonnis is also survived by her daughter, Marie Veronica Southerland (Robert Lee Southerland, Jr.) of Azle, Texas; her grandchildren, Katherine Marie Ormont (Joe) of Dallas, Texas, and Michael Kenneth Rockwood (Jene) of Dallas, Texas; and her six great-grandchildren, Mikayla Marie Rockwood of Leander, Texas, Ethan Michael Ormont, Leo Wesley Ormont, and Quinn Elise Ormont, all of Dallas, Texas, and Luke Joseph Rockwood and Lauren Elizabeth Rockwood, both of Dallas, Texas.

She is also survived by her step great-grandchildren, Riley Nicole Darc Angelo of Bainbridge, Georgia, and Caleb Michael Southerland of Bainbridge, Georgia; her sister-in-law, Bearnese Boatright Hasty (Glenn) of Jacksonville, Florida; her brother-in-law, Cecil LaDell Williams of Waverly, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

Vonnis was well known and deeply loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her warmth, strength, and devotion to her family will be remembered always.

A visitation will be held at 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia.
