

SMSGT William Joseph “Jody” Crooms, 66, of Brunswick, died Monday, March 10, 2014 at SGHS in Brunswick. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, March 14, 2014 at Golden Isles Church of God with Rev. Ray Dawson, Rev. Billy Swain, Rev. Larry Crooms, and Rev. Joe Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery with Full Military Honors from Moody Air Force Base Honor Guard. Joel Rogers, Chad Schilke, Jared Dixon, Brandon White, Chad Kelley, Justin Crooms, Caleb Crooms, and Noah Norton will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of The 224th JCSS Air Guard Unit, Dr. Stephen Beaty, Dr. Joseph Lanzone, Joy Ministries Senior Group, Rev. Bobby Tatum, and Michael Belk.
Born February 26, 1948 in Glynn County to William H. and Geneva S. Crooms, he was a 1966 Graduate of Glynn Academy. He also was a Graduate of Air Force Community College. He had been a lifelong resident of Glynn County and was a member or Golden Isles Church of God. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed farming and the great outdoors. His family said he was happiest “piddling”. Mr. Crooms was also a renowned poet. He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Crooms and his grandmother Irene Crooms Green.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Brenda Crooms, three daughters, Lori Carter and husband Joe, Lisa Towsley, Jessica Crooms and Fiance’ Joel Rogers, all of Brunswick, four grandchildren, Claire Crooms, Jacob Carter, Hannah Carter, and Abigail Carter, his mother, Geneva Crooms of Brunswick, two brothers, Larry Crooms and wife Beth of Cleveland, TN, Danny Crooms and wife Karen of Lavonia, two sisters, Alma Dixon and husband Larry of Brunswick, and Karen Denton and husband Kenny of Cleveland, TN, several beloved in laws and many nieces and nephews.
