William Howard O’Quinn, age 73, passed away on December 5, 2025. He was born in Brunswick, Georgia, on October 11, 1952, to the late Dalton Ray O’Quinn and the late Lena Beatrice “Bea” Hazelip O’Quinn. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Michael Randy O’Quinn and James David O’Quinn; and his brother-in-law by marriage Charles “Charlie” Millard Wells, all of Brunswick; and his brother-in-law Arnold G. “AG” Proctor of Emporia, Virginia.
Howard is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary “Tibby” Wells O’Quinn of Brunswick; his son, Brad O’Quinn (Jamie) of Brunswick; his daughters, Holly Deignan (CJ) of Destin, Florida, and Joy O’Quinn (Jimmy Neesmith) of Brunswick.
He leaves behind four beloved grandchildren: Abigail Williams, Dalton Lily O’Quinn, Cadence Moss, and Baylie O’Quinn.
Howard is also survived by his brother, Ray O’Quinn of Brunswick; his sister, Wanda O’Quinn Proctor (AG) of Emporia; his sister-in-law, Bobbie O’Quinn (David) of Ormond Beach, Florida; his sister-in-law by marriage, Linda Stewart (Jay) and his sister-in-law by marriage, Paula Wells (Charlie) both of Brunswick; his uncle, J.B. O’Quinn of Brunswick; and his aunt, Anna Hazelip of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; along with many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Howard’s mother often reflected on him as a mischievous child with a remarkably kind heart. He grew up exploring the rivers, creeks, and woods around Brunswick with his siblings and cousins, developing a lifelong love of the outdoors. His affection for animals began early—he cared for a pet owl and raccoon in addition to many dogs. If an animal needed a home, Howard was always willing to provide one.
Sports and recreation filled his childhood, especially games played with the many O’Quinn cousins—often enough to make an entire team. He loved retelling the story of the day he hit four home runs in a single baseball game. He and his brothers were also devoted to billiards and famously kept a pool table in the middle of their not-very-large bedroom.
Howard graduated from the first graduating class of Brunswick High School in 1970. His shop classes sparked his interest in carpentry, leading to a long and respected career as a master carpenter. He built homes throughout Sea Island, St. Simons Island, Brunswick, and Fernandina, Florida, and even built three homes of his own in Brunswick. Howard was also a dedicated businessman, owning Transvilla Mobile Home Park for 22 years and, alongside his wife, operated a storage facility.
Though he worked hard, Howard treasured time with family and adventures. He enjoyed many vacations across the country, from the Blue Ridge Mountains to ski trips in Colorado, Vermont, and West Virginia, as well as memorable visits to the Bahamas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and annual trips to Virginia to visit his sister Wanda. A true outdoorsman, he loved fishing and would have spent every day on the water if he could.
Howard also loved sports and competition. He enjoyed college football, the NFL, NASCAR, and the Atlanta Braves, and he played tennis, pool, softball, and golf throughout his life.
If you knew Howard, you knew his devotion to family, his commitment to hard work and expectation of the same from others, his pure enjoyment of good food, and his loyalty to the Georgia Bulldogs. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
