William Charles Wright

Rev. William C. (Bill) Wright, age 84, passed away on February 26, 2011, in Nashville, TN. He was the son of the late Cardinal W. and Mary Gaddy Wright. The Waynesville, NC native had lived in Nashville, TN for the past nine years, moving from Brunswick, GA, where he had lived for over 50 years.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Navy in the Hospital Corps. He retired from Hercules, Inc, in November 1981 after 29 years of service.

He was pastor of the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, Waynesville, GA and for two tenures of service at the Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Brunswick, GA. He also served as interim pastor of the North Brunswick Wesleyan Church for several months and served as their church pianist for several years.

He is survived by one daughter, Sharon R. (Danny) Driskell, Nashville, TN, one son, Rev. Clifton M. (Heike) Wright, Kiev, Ukraine, three brothers, Rev. Clyde Wright, Greenville, SC, Wayne Wright, Greer, SC, and Claude Wright, Wilkesboro, NC, one sister, Marilyn Bryant, Mauldin, SC, and four grandchildren, two aunts, and several nieces and nephews and special friends Pauline Carson and Linda Highsmith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae, son Charles and a brother, C.W. (Buddy) Wright.

The funeral will be conducted at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral home at 11:00am on Saturday, March 5, with Dr. Roy E. Rogers officiating. Internment will be at Brunswick Memorial Park. Visitation is from 6:00pm – 8:00pm Friday evening.

Pallbearers are Roy McDowell, Sr., Roy McDowell, Jr., Ben Whittle, Glenn Carroll, Michael Driskell and Jonathan Wright. Honorary pallbearers are Ernest Stuart, RogerBrowher, Julian Daden, Dale Bailey, Bill Crews, Jack Kennedy, Jim Lawrence, Rev. Heather Scarborough, Rev. Phil Harrington, Rev. Sheldon Rowell, Rev. Glen Rainey, Rev. J.C. Mathis, and Don Pittman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene Foundation, 13795 S. Mur-Len Road, Suite 101, Olathe, KS 66062. Checks should be marked “CIS Education IMA.”
