Aleith Cecilia Jackson passed away on December 27, 2012 at the age of 87 years. Aleith is survived by her children; Deirdre (Paul) Healy, Colin (JoAnn) Jackson, grandchildren: Shannon, Jason Healy, Deborah (Darcy) Douma, Catherine (Mark) Verlaan and David (Laura) Jackson, as well as 6 great grandchildren. Aleith was predeceased by her husband Philip in 2006.
Aleith was born in Lethbridge, Alberta and raised on the Collin family farm east of Milk River, Alberta. She came to Calgary to continue her education in business accounting. She met and married Philip Jackson on January 8, 1947. The family resided in Calgary where Aleith resumed full time employment after her children Colin (1948) and Deirdre (1951) reached school age. Aleith’s training and dedicated work ethic resulted in her becoming an accomplished bookkeeper until her retirement in 1980. Her early retirement years were spent with Phil, enjoying a nomadic lifestyle; summers at the cabin in Sylvan Lake and winters at the condo in Arizona. Aleith suffered with increasing disability due to MS and her condition gradually deteriorated, limiting the enjoyment of her final years. In 2005 Aleith was admitted to the Care West Sarcee extended care facility where she resided at the time of her passing. The family would like to thank the staff of Care West Sarcee and companionship providers Joann, Lorna, Shirlyn and Hilda for their excellent care and dedication to Aleith during this challenging time.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 5504 - 20 Street SW, Calgary on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the MS Society, #150, 110 Quarry Park Blvd. SE, Calgary, Alberta T2C 3G3
