

Alfred went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, December 13 at the age of 88 years old, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lakendorf, East Prussia, Germany on September 13, 1935, the fourth of the six Janz brothers.
The Janz family immigrated to Canada in December 1951. They first lived in Coaldale, Alberta and then moved to Calgary. Alfred joined a construction crew to build houses. Soon after he married Ingrid Bartel in September 1959. Later he helped to establish Tower and Janz Construction companies, building residential and commercial structures for over 40 years.
Alfred was actively involved at First Mennonite Church and he loved many outdoor activities.
Alfred will be lovingly remembered by Ingrid, his wife of 64 years, son Ron, daughters Edith (John) and Letty (Ed) and grandchildren Jordan (Kelsey), Lexi (David), Emily (Brendan), Gabrielle (Aaron), Olivia, 3 great grandchildren and sisters-in-law Ruth, Esther, Ellie and Hertha.
He was predeceased by his son Elmer, his parents Bernhard and Erna Janz and his 5 brothers Helmut, Artur, Kurt, Henry (Rocky) and Gerhard.
In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to HART (Humanitarian Aid Response Team) at: hart.ca HART is dedicated to alleviating poverty and injustice in Eastern Europe (predominately in Ukraine) by working alongside local Christian churches – giving them the tools to build a better world for themselves and their communities.
Extended family are invited to an evening of memory for our dad at South Calgary Funeral Centre at 12700 Macleod Trail South, Calgary, Alberta on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 7 pm.
A Celebration of Life for Alfred Janz will be held at First Mennonite Church at 2600 Richmond Rd SW Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 1 pm.
