Allan, fondly known to all as Al, was born to Oscar and Mina Simpson on July 2, 1944 in Trochu. Alberta. Al lived a life filled with passion, curiosity and generosity. He found immense joy in the company of his family and friends, cherishing every moment spent with them. Early in his career he was a glazer but his true talents shone through as an accomplished upholsterer. His skills extended far beyond his professions, as he was a lifelong learner which he constantly sought to expand his knowledge. Al worked with his hands and his heart, because he loved what he did. By far his favorite hobby was woodworking where making sawdust was his passion. He found solace in the outdoors, especially while camping amidst the trees. Al’s interests were many and varied; from bowling, where he earned several trophies, to his love for watching airplanes and attending car shows and motorcycle events. He found fascination with all things mechanical. He enjoyed driving through the mountains looking at the fall colours where he could revel in the beauty of nature. Al was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly when it came to watching his grandchildren playing, demonstrating his unwavering support and enthusiasm. He was a man of so many talents. He was a builder, a dreamer and a learner.
Al leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration. He is survived by his children, Paul (Shannon) and Kathy (Stacey), his cherished grandchildren, Taneisha and Tyrese, his brother Stan (Linda) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also deeply admired by his lifelong friend Georgina, who shared in his journey through life.
Al’s kindness, passion, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
