Andrew MacAlister Syme

Our beloved Andy passed peacefully in the Rocky View Hospital on Monday, October 11, 2010. Andy was born in Mexico City in 1928, and enjoyed eighty-two glorious years. After receiving an MSc in Mining Engineering from McGill University, Andy pursued a successful career as a geophysicist in far-reaches of the world eventually accepting a long tenure with Esso and settling in Calgary. Andy will be deeply missed by his loving wife of forty-six years, Ruth; sister Beatrice; daughter Rachel (Rob); son Steven (Vanesa); grandchildren Daniel, Ellery, Paulo, Marco, and Sofia; extended family, and of course his many friends. A Memorial Service was held in Andy’s honour at Holy Cross Anglican Church, 2828 – 19 Street N.W., Calgary on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Andy’s memory directly to the charity of one’s choice or to Parkinson Society Canada, 102, 5636 Burbank Crescent S.E.,
