

March 9, 1922 – June 5, 2013
A.M. Usselman or Tony, as he was known to friends and associates, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Tony was born on a farm near Unity, Saskatchewan and served over seas with the RCAF during the Second World War. He graduated from the Manitoba School of Agriculture on the Veteran’s Bill and made life-long friendships there. Tony brought his young family with him to Calgary in 1952 and started Built-Rite Homes which employed hundreds of Albertans at its peak, as well as other companies such as Logger Lumber, Meridian Homes, etc. Tony was a charter member of the local S.P.B.S.Q.S.A, and sang with the chorus for many years. Tony was also a charter member and past President of the North Hill Rotary Club, as well as being a past President of The Calgary Home Builders Association, Carma Developers, and Silver Springs Golf and Country Club. He built the course and original club house of Silver Springs and turned it over to the members. Tony operated Anton Developments Ltd. and the Varsity Execucentre which he owned until late in life and attended Rotary as well as golfed until the age of 90. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth; many nieces and nephews and son Paul and his wife, Ollie. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayer Services held at Sacred Heart Church, 1307 14 Street S.W., Calgary, AB on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens, Calgary, AB.
