Arnold Reschke

Our beloved father, Opa, brother and friend peacefully left this earth on Saturday, March 2, 2024 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 88 years old. He was born in Blendowo, Poland on May 2, 1935. During the war, his family lived in Denmark before being granted passage to Canada. He worked as a carpenter and was also trained as a baker. Both these skills he used when building his life in Calgary. He and Ida were married November 30, 1957 and shared 56 years together.

He will be missed by his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dean Radke, Rita and Shane Pearsall, and Cindy Reschke and Roger Smith; his grandchildren, Chad Pearsall, Chris (Rocio) Radke, Heather (Jordan) Raugust, Kyle (Andrea) Pearsall, Ryan (Christa) Pearsall, Josh (Emma Hutchinson) Neumann, Jordan (Courtney Lust) Neumann, Nathaniel Neumann; and great-grandchildren, Ben Raugust, Emmelina Radke, Sawyer Pearsall, Hannah Raugust, Charlee Pearsall, Annora Radke, Halle Raugust, Livianna Radke, Kai Pearsall, Osias Radke, Caley Pearsall. Many loved ones went before him including his wife, Ida, at the age of 77; their daughter Doris Reschke-Neumann at the age of 44 (survived by three sons); as well as, his parents many years before, and most recently his brother, Waldemar Reschke at the age of 91; and his sister, Anetta Jackson at the age of 87.

Arnold enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, and tending to their beautiful yard. He was skilled at working with his hands – building, creating, and repairing. Above all, he treasured his time with his family.

He will be greatly missed but our cherished memories of him will sustain us during difficult times. We take solace in knowing that he is now free from pain and no longer burdened by the health challenges of his aging body.

A private family graveside will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 3:00 pm. The family will gather together on Saturday, March 16, 2024 for a dinner and Celebration of Life for their much loved father and Opa.
