Arthur Wayne Beatty passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at 94 years of age. Art was born in Winnipeg on January 31, 1927, and has lived in Calgary since he came to the Calgary Stampede in 1951. He worked mostly in Sales. He sold investments, insurance and mutual funds. Art has been retired for 30 years, enjoying his leisure time.
Art had various health problems which he managed, but he could not recover from recent kidney failure. He lived a good long life and was so ready to meet his Lord and Saviour Jesus. He looked forward to Heaven, and read his Bible almost daily until he became too ill.
For many years Art was involved in the Gideon’s Bible distribution. He was active in his church, Foothills Alliance Church, and enjoyed teaching Sunday School for 20 years.
Art and Mertie and their three children, Layton, Lorne and Lorinda enjoyed trips to the United States and to several Provinces to visit relatives and friends. Art enjoyed his trips to Mexico and Hawaii. One memorable trip that He took was with a tour group to the Holy Land.
Family was important to Art, and he kept in touch with his large extended family; he appreciated hearing from them. Art loved his children and grandchildren, and looked forward to having them over for summer bar-b-cues and sit-down dinners for Christmas and other holidays. Those were special times for everyone and these memories of the good times together will be treasured.
All his life Art was considerate, kind and generous and was known to be a very honest person. He always had a sharp business sense, and was a good provider. He had a sense of humour and a keen interest in cars and horses.
Art is survived by his wife Mertie (Nee Werenka) of 58 years; his three children, Layton (Vanesa) with KateLynn, Max, Sophia and Marcus; Lorne (Brenda) with Troy, Thomas, Emily, Tanner, and Todd (Lexie) with Rylan and Aurelia; Lorinda (John) Flaherty with twins Ethan and Taylan.
Art is also survived by his brother Lloyd; sisters Vy, Eleanor and Diane; brothers-in-law Dewayne, and Mal; and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives in Canada and United States. Art was predeceased by his mother, Nellie (Nee Sicinski); stepdad Roy Beatty; brothers Claire and Clinton; sisters Catherine, Evelyn, Maxine and Mabel.
Art is remembered as a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa, and he will be dearly missed.
