Cal was born in Montreal, Quebec. He is survived by his wife Sandra “Sandy”, daughters Glenna (Marc) and Laura (Sean), and his six grandchildren, and three siblings. He was a draftsman by trade specializing in piping design for the majority of his career until retirement. He met Sandy in 1963, and they married in 1968 beginning a love story that spanned 61 years together. They moved out west to Calgary in 1973 where they started their family.
Cal was a talented and creative jack of all trades who loved the challenge of all projects big and small, and there was no job he would not tackle. He was such a hard worker and perfectionist, and generous with his time in helping others. He was devoted to his family, a wonderful and loving papa, and enjoyed family gatherings and time with friends. Throughout the years, he loved travelling (driving thousands of miles on road trips and taking cruises), playing guitar, curling, golfing, tinkering with his cars, and taking drives with Sandy in his vintage Mercedes.
He will be remembered for his kindness, great sense of humour, laughter, and smile. We will dearly miss his presence.
Thank you to the staff at the Foothills Medical Centre ER and the Cardiac ICU for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca).
A Celebration of Cal’s Life will be held for family and friends at 2pm on Saturday, June 14th, 2025 at South Calgary Funeral Centre located at 12700 Macleod Trail South.
