On Tuesday, January 10, 2017, our beloved Mother, Clara Milbrandt (nee Sailer) was peacefully ushered into the presence of her Lord and Saviour at the age of 101 years and one day. Family and friends will miss her kindness, her gentleness, her commitment to service, and her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. As Clara’s children and grandchildren, we were blessed to have spent a lifetime surrounded by her love and devotion. Mom lived a life of service to her church and community and displayed incredible strength during very challenging times. Mom was born to Frederick and Caroline Sailer in Forress, Saskatchewan on January 9, 1916; she was the oldest of eight children. Clara was predeceased by her husband the Reverend Rudolf Milbrandt in 1966. Together they founded and pastored numerous churches in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. They also established the Baptist Haven of Rest, a senior’s facility and nursing home in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Clara will be deeply missed by her children: Trudy (Ralph) Krueger, Dennis Milbrandt (Liane Depatie); grandchildren: Jason (Dolores) Krueger, Jim Krueger, Kalem Milbrandt (Crystal Johanson); and great grandchildren Jonathan Krueger and Olivia Krueger. Also thanking God for her life of influence are Clara’s brothers Edwin (Katherine) Sailer of Chilliwack, British Columbia, and Albert (Rose) Sailer of Medicine Hat, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. To Dr. Ken Cody, Drs. Don and Paul Gladman, and the caregivers at the Bow View Manor, thank you for your gentle care, patience, and support of our mother. A Memorial Service will be held at Brentview Baptist Church 3512 Charleswood Dr. NW, Calgary, Alberta T2L 2C3, on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. If friends and relatives so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the E.P. Wahl Centre, Taylor College and Seminary, 11525 – 23 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T6J 4T3, or to a charity of their choice. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
