We are deeply saddened to hear of Cliff's passing. We met him through scouting and he was such a kind, generous man. He was a great role model for the boys he mentored weekly. Our son flourished under Cliffs leadership and a thank you for that will never be enough. We pray for peace for the family during this difficult time. 

Where my mother comes from, there is an expression; "Bust your buttons!"  
When someone says, "She was about like to bust her buttons!"  it is an affectionate way to talk about the glowing  pride they feel over something.
We did not know Cliff well, but we liked him immensley.  
We would run into him  around the neighborhood and every time we saw him, we would naturally ask about William, and the change in Cliff was physical - his eyes would shine, he would stand a little taller, and really, he was about like to bust his buttons!  
He loved William so.
And that is how Cliff will live on.  Through love.


It has been a while since we shared time together.  But, we will never forget the good times we had in Cliff's company.   We so enjoyed camping with Cliff & his son William.  Cliff would cook a huge turkey in a deep fryer at his campsite in the r v park.  We all would sit around and enjoy the awesome meal he prepared for us.  Jim & I shared several meals with Cliff & his lovely wife Gale. while spending the winter in Arizona.   Cliff was always kind, considerate & so funny.  I remember coming home to Calgary from Arizona, my son Don Ivany took me to Cliff's home & about 12 or so of us watched the football game.  Cliff cheered for his team & of course his team won.  As usual Cliff had a wonderful spread of food for us all to enjoy .  So much fun, we will miss you our friend.  God did the angels in heaven a favour when he brought you home to be with Him.  May you rest in peace.

Cliff was always kind and helpful at work, it was a pleasure to work with him over this last year. 

Many of the memories shared thus far speak of Cliff's passion for scouting and what he meant to those he mentored.  It brings a favorite verse to mind ……..

"Some people come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same."

We will miss you, Cliff.

I had also met cliff through scouting. I was a young Scout as his son William was entering cubs. I was Kim so attended almost every meeting, went on camps, and enjoyed some non scouting time for ice fishing and other outdoorsy activities. Cliff was there for me at a time when I need mentorship and a good male role model. He helped shape me to the man I’ve become today. I am deeply saddened as today was my last day on the tomb of the unknown soldier in Ottawa, and I could only imagine how proud he would be of what I have achieved and who I’ve become. My sincerest condolences for his passing. You will be missed Scouter Cliff

My condolences to William and family. Although I was only a Scouter with Cliff for a short period of time I found Cliff to be a dedicated Scouter who went all out when it came to providing a great program for the children.

Cliff was a caring, fun man who everyone knew and liked.  He was always quick with a smile and what a great laugh!  We shared many an adventure with him and our children have fond memories of Scouter Cliff.
