It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, Daisy, on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the age of 98 years. Daisy was born in Surrey, England and was the youngest of 9 brothers and sisters. She was an officers’ cook in the Women's Royal Naval Service in England during WWII. It was during this time that she met her future husband Francis, a Canadian Soldier stationed in England. Daisy spent weeks on a ship before arriving in Calgary in 1946, where Francis soon joined her. They started their family in 1950. At the time of Daisy’s passing, she had been blessed with 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild! After her husband passed away in 1969, Daisy moved to Kanerva House Seniors apartments in Forest Lawn. She spent many happy years there and made a huge circle of friends. Daisy lived in that apartment independently until 4 months ago. She loved the drama club, singing group, playing bingo and cards. Her social calendar was always full. Daisy loved to listen to music, dance and was the life of the party. She loved Christmas and filled up her family’s homes with many brightly wrapped gifts. Daisy will be lovingly remembered by her children Dave (Marylynne), Fran (Ken), Marie (Geoff) and Bob (Bev); as well as her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. She will also be remembered fondly by her family in England and Australia. Daisy was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Ellen; husband Francis; daughter Pearl; grandson Kyle; and 5 brothers and 3 sisters. A Celebration of Daisy’s Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., with a visitation held one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to The Canadian Cancer Society, 200 - 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary T2E 2P5. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
