Dave Jamieson Millar

David “Dave” Jamieson Millar passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the age of 83 years. Dave was born in Calgary and moved to Scotland in 1936. He joined the British Navy and was an Officer Steward from 1944 to 1946. Dave married his wife of fifty-eight years, Gloria in 1950. They eventually settled in Canada in 1960. Dave worked at Clarke’s Auto Parts, Standard General and Nova Pipelines as a Security Officer nearing his retirement years. He was actively involved in the Calgary Soccer Community for many years as a referee. Dave is lovingly remembered by his two sons David (Sharon) and Rod (Lesley); and six grandchildren, Leah, Brandy, Dallas, Julia, Hayden and Aimee. Dave is also survived by his three stepbrothers, James (Calgary), John and Andrew (Scotland) Arnot. Dave was predeceased by his wife Gloria in 2008 and three brothers Tommy, Robert and George Millar. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made directly to the COPD Canada Patient Network at 3047 Old Sambro Road, Williamswood, NS, Canada B3V 1E6 or online at www.COPDCanada.ca.
