David Erwin Flegel passed away peacefully at the age of 55 years on January 13, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was in the loving presence of his father, Erwin Flegel, his mother, Jacqueline Flegel, and his sister Denita Flegel-Bush. Before his passing, he was so pleased to see his youngest sister, Jamie Flegel-Wood, who flew in from Texas to be by his side. The family would like to extend many thanks to both David’s uncle Larry Flegel and his aunt Wendy Clark for their continuous and loving support. Also a special thanks to David’s best friend Rob Smaile for his bright smiles and continuous support as well. A final heartfelt thank you to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and Carewest Sarcee Hospice for the care and attention that David received during his final days. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at a later date with extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in David’s memory directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre Foundation (1331 29 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta T2N 4N2).
