Dianne Lynne Jones Hobbs

It is with the deepest of sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mom, grandma, and sister, Dianne, who passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 1, 2016. Dianne was born on June 14, 1945 as the first daughter of Brynley and Nancy Jones of Calgary and raised in a loving and close family of seven girls. Growing up, she would set an example for her younger sisters with her strength and undeniable ability to care. Those abilities would later lead her into her chosen career as a registered nurse. Dianne was proud to be a member of the first class of nurses to graduate from the Foothills Hospital in 1968. She worked as a registered nurse for 40 years, her skills and dedication were unquestioned by all those she touched. In 1970, she married the love of her life, Dennis, with whom she would share the next 46 years. They were blessed with three loving children and lived for a short time in Edmonton before making their final home in Calgary. Dianne enjoyed many passions including gardening, oil painting, porcelain dolls, reading, and dancing, but above all, the nurturing and love of family. She was a loving Mom and Grandma and she shared her spirit for life with all those around her. Her infectious laugh and smile were her trademarks. She leaves to mourn her loss: her beloved husband Dennis; her son Darcy (Keira) and grandchildren Natalie and Duncan; her daughter Kelly (Sean) and grandsons Gavin and Braeden; and her sisters Glynda, Marilyn (John), Shelley (Ken), and Nancy Jane (Gino); as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Dianne was predeceased by her son Geoffrey in 1978, her parents, and two sisters. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, AB (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday August 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
