Dolores “Lorie” Marlyn Anna Carveth (nee Molter) passed away peacefully at the Rosedale Hospice in Calgary on March 25, 2022. We are deeply grateful for special memories of our recent celebration with Lorie for her 90th birthday.
Lorie is survived by her daughter, Cory Stewart (Joe Bourette); grandson, Dylan Stewart; granddaughter, Victoria Chrysler (Douglas) all of Calgary; her brother Michael Molter of Montreal; her sister Adele Mather (Gary) of Regina; and her many nieces and nephews.
Lorie was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years Frank Carveth, parents Charles and Adeline Molter, brother, Joseph Molter and sister, Carol Gilbert.
Lorie was born in rural Saskatchewan and spent most of her early years in Regina. She loved her time spent on her grandparents’ farm near Boggy Creek. She attended Sacred Heart Academy before attending business college. Lorie’s career moved forward quickly as she landed positions she loved in Media production, planning (Radio, TV, and print) and promotion. A move to Toronto and the opportunity to work for McCann Ericksen Advertising Agency, on the Coca-Cola account was a career highlight. Upon returning to Regina, she was recognized as one of Canada’s 10 best dressed women in 1957 by Liberty Magazine bringing her 15 minutes of fame.
Lorie also held many non-profit positions and volunteered for numerous worthy charities, such as the Canadian Cancer Society.
In the early 1990’s Lorie and Frank made the move to Calgary to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. The next years were spent touring the backroads of Alberta to explore their new home. Special joy was found in cheering loudly at hockey games, horse shows and the many other activities of their grandchildren. Lorie frequently helped braid manes on early mornings at the barns. She was a very involved grandmother, even volunteering at Red Deer Lake School for field trips. Family was extremely important to Lorie. She helped organize many treasured gatherings with her family and encouraged each generation to keep traditions alive. The ritual of Sunday Dinners was important to Lorie and became even more special during recent months as she participated in lively conversation with family and friends until her very last days.
After Frank passed Lorie formed many new friendships in her townhome community. She was actively involved in the social committee at Somervale Point and service positions/director for TOPS. Lorie loved to entertain and was the first to host showers, birthday celebrations or the annual Chili cook off. She was blessed with boundless energy which was so apparent when at her 85th birthday party she had the group doing the twist.
Lorie’s last move to the Evergreen Revera Retirement Lodge in 2020 was met with enthusiasm, even the COVID lockdowns were handled with grace. Lorie made new friends and enjoyed all the Scrabble, Trivia games, happy hours and getting to know her new neighbours by watching the Saskatchewan Roughriders with other transplanted fans.
Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Finvers, the staff, and the volunteers of Rosedale Hospice who each made these last months so much easier for Lorie and her family. The kindness and compassion shown to us will not be forgotten.
A celebration of Lorie’s life will be held at a later date. For further details please contact her daughter by phone or text at 403-680-3883.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Regina Cemetery, (2120 4 Ave, Regina, SK), on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. A reception will be held after the interment and details will be offered at that time.
