Dorothy Mae Swan

Dorothy Mae Swan was born in Dent, Minnesota on October 7, 1914 and passed away in Calgary, AB on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. She will be sadly missed by daughter Betty Gallegos and son in law, Ted; 5 grandchildren, Rick Kanski (Kim), Kathy Freeborn (Glen), Traci Grossi (Rod), David Gallegos, and Diana Gallegos (Lee); and 7 great grandchildren, Kelly Summers (Chris), Lindsey Fleming (Scott), Chelsey and Brittany Scarpino, Carmine and Joel Grossi, and Shiloh Petit. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Elvin Swan; her daughter, Gloria Kanski; her parents; Carrie and Lawson Strader; her sister, Helen Rosluk; her brothers, Russell, Glen, Rex; and her twin brother, Donald Strader. Dorothy had a love of life and loved traveling, gardening, photography, music, animals, telling stories, and most of all, she loved her family. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her care-taker and friend, Virginia Pettigrew. Our family greatly appreciates her devotion and love for her. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel of Queen’s Park Cemetery Mausoleum, 3219 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary today Friday, January 6, 2012 at 3:00p.m. Interment will follow in Queen’s Park Cemetery.
