

Douglas Tong Leong, 75, of Calgary AB, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 7, 2013 with his family by his side. Douglas was born on November 11, 1937 in a small village in Canton, China. He came to Canada in 1958 and married his wife May on December 12, 1965. He was a kind hearted, hard working family man who took pride in his three children. He operated the family grocery store for over 25 years and enjoyed semi-retirement working as a cook, volunteering his time, travelling and taking care of his grandchildren and extended family. Douglas is survived by his wife May, of 47 years; son Edward (wife Winnie); son Robert (wife Phoebe) and daughter Dianna (husband Swee Cheng and their children Nai-En (Noah) and Nai-Hua (Lucas). The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Foothills Hospital, Tom Baker Centre, Pallative Home Care Services and Santuari Hospice staff for their kind and compassionate care during his final days. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend John Kong officiating. Burial will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 – 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2.
