Edgar James, beloved husband of the late Beverley Kay Skeet of Calgary went home to be with his Lord on March 19, 2018.
He was predeceased by our mom on November 27, 2009, and most recently by his sister-in-law, Marilyn Jones, his brothers Alister and Lionel Skeet and his oldest sister, Irene (Skeet) Bradshaw.
He will always be lovingly remembered by his three girls and their families: Karen (Lee) Villiger, Kurtis and Kenneth Villiger; Linda (Wally) Buchan, Lyndsey (Caleb) Delamont, and Geoff (Amy) Buchan; Connie Skeet, Sydney and Colby; and his two beautiful great-grandchildren, Florence and Callum; his sister Peg Tucker; and brothers Allen, Roy, Gerald, Gordon and Les Skeet.
Dad’s parents and three oldest siblings immigrated to Alberta in 1926 and he is the sixth of ten children. Farm life was difficult in those days and the family moved to Calgary in 1940. Dad went on to learn a trade in carpentry and while working for Revelstoke Sawmills, he met our mother, Beverley who lived in Field, BC at the time. They were married in 1958 and settled in Calgary.
Dad went on to work for his Uncle (by marriage) in the printing business and remained in that industry until he retired. He continued to work part time running his own business and helped out at St. Peter’s for many years.
He always loved hockey and played at a fairly high level and later enjoyed coaching both hockey and ringette for many years. He was an avid gardener and woodworker and continued on with those hobbies up until a few years ago.
Dad was a member of the Bow River Lodge for more than 50 years and was Master in 1970.
A Celebration of Edgar’s Life will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, (903 75 Avenue SW), on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Edgar’s memory directly to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, STARS or the Calgary Humane Society.
