

Edward R. Nussbaumer passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the age of 88 years. Ed was born in Tugaske, Saskatchewan and grew up on Moose Jaw. He gave distinguished service in the Canadian Armed Forces in the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry between 1941 and 1945 in Italy, Belgium, Holland and England. Ed moved to Calgary shortly after his military service and was a heating/air conditioning specialist with Honeywell for 34 years, continuing his career until retirement in 2004 at age 80. Ed was a member of the United Association Local 496 – Journeyman Plumbing & Pipefitters Industry since 1951.
Ed loved his extensive music collection, the Calgary Symphony, photography, his pet cat and flower gardens. Ed and wife Betty enjoyed their many walks in Confederation Park, travels to Hawaii and visiting family and friends in Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Ed supported many charitable organizations.
Ed is survived by his loving wife Betty. From the time they met 15 years ago they believed they were soul mates and lived their lives like that. He is also survived by his son Rod (Bonnie) of Maple Ridge, BC, daughter Patti (Jeff) of Irricana, AB and grandchildren Kirk (Andrea), Amy and Peter; sister Isabel of Pitt Meadows, BC,. Brother Alf (Jean) of Nanaimo, BC, sister Margaret of Sorrento, BC and many cousins and nephews. Also Betty’s children Matthew (LaDonna), Myra (Clare), Ruth and Mark and granddaughters heather and Kathleen. Ed was predeceased by parents Phillip and Louise Nussbaumer, brother Renne Nussbaumer and first wife Eve.
Throughout his life Ed shared with his family and friends being supportive and giving. He will be missed by all, young and old. The family wants to thank the staff at Cedars Villa and the Colonel Belcher of their care of Ed, especially his caregiver Glen Cameron. A private memorial service was held at South Calgary Funeral Centre on Monday, August 12. Cremation has taken place with internment at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
