Ellen was born in Wick, Scotland on 31 January 1930. She always held a passion for her Scottish heritage but at heart was a true Calgarian, cheering on the Stampeders and Flames. Ellen’s love of skiing led her to volunteer for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics and kept her on the skis into her 80s. Her commitment to volunteering did not stop there. Throughout her life Ellen volunteered with the Red Cross donating her blood to save lives and encouraging others to do the same. She enjoyed being with Bill and their large extended family, travelling with their friends, and spending time at The Lake. She also loved music, movies, and playing games. Ellen had a soft spot in her heart for the family pets always with a treat in hand. She was a very active person who could be seen either on her bike Betsy, skating at the Oval or walking on Nose Hill. Ellen will be missed by so many.
Ellen is survived by her brother Bob Davie; children Bev Kosior (Jim), Pat Charlebois (Ron Hickey), Rob Couch and Diane Couch along with thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Ellen was predeceased by her beloved husband William Charles Couch.
