Ernst Jensen

Ernst Christen Jensen passed away peacefully in Calgary, AB on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at the age of 82 years. He was born to Astrid and Axel Jensen and raised in Sakskobing, Denmark then came to Canada on April 19, 1966 on an agricultural exchange program.

He decided to make his home here and remained in Canada for the next 60 years. He became a Canadian citizen in June 1976. He worked in the construction industry as a concrete contractor with his partner John Capponni until 2008 when he retired.

He leaves behind his wife Janice, whom he married in 1992, as well as stepsons Steven (Jessica), Bradley (Jenny) and four grandchildren Jackson, Olivia, Sawyer and Linden. In Denmark, he is survived by his sister Greda, nieces Rita, Tina and Karina as well as nephews Jen and Allan and in Canada, his twin brother Erik and his family in Vancouver.

Ernst was predeceased by his sister Inger in 2024.

He cherished his family and was close to all of them. Ernst and Janice loved to travel and saw much of the world together including Europe, China, South America, Australia and New Zealand.

A Memorial Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. If you wish to attend virtually, the livestreaming link will be available below service information.
