Erwin went peacefully in the embrace of his Lord and Savior with his family by his side. Erwin’s passing is deeply mourned by his loving wife Matilda (Tilly); his children Judy, David, Ken, Karen, Ruby, Richard, and Donald; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; his brother Ron and sister Alice. He was predeceased by his first wife Opal. Erwin was born in Pennant, SK, where he farmed until 1974 when he moved to Calgary and married Tilly. He enjoyed many God-given talents in carpentry, woodworking, gardening as well as rebuilding old cars. Erwin enjoyed passing his knowledge on to his boys. Erwin was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church for 38 years, serving on council and bible school. He was a stalwart Christian and lived his faith providing a solid foundation and anchor for his family. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the nursing staff and chaplain of Unit 54 at Peter Lougheed Centre for their compassion. You were our “Angels of Mercy”. Thank you to all of those who visited and prayed for Erwin. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at visitation held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, August 27, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Sharon Danish Lutheran Church, 210 – 10 Avenue N.E., Calgary on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Peter Loughheed Hospital Ministries, 3500 26 Avenue Northeast, Calgary, AB T1Y 6J4 or to the Sharon Danish Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6.
