Evelin Mary (Hemphill) Schmidt

It is with deep sadness that the family of Evelin Mary Schmidt announces her passing on April 16, 2025, at the age of 81. Evelin passed away peacefully at Father Lacombe Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta.

Evelin is lovingly remembered by her children; Martin (Patty), Dawn (Jay), and Jeffery (Rubie), her sister; Jean Stienacher (William), and her brother; Lorne Hemphill (Judy).

She was predeceased by her beloved husband; Duane Vernon Schmidt.

Born on October 22, 1943, Evelin spent her life giving generously to others. She held various office roles throughout her long career and was admired for her strong work ethic and warm demeanour. Evelin had a passion for creating, crafting, and baking—often sharing her homemade treats with friends, family, and her community. She was a dedicated volunteer, regularly donating baked goods to the Legion Ladies Auxiliary’s weekly bake sales.

Her kindness, creativity, and love for her family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A Celebration of Life for both Evelin and Duane will be held for family and friends at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Evelin’s memory may be made to the Father Lacombe Care Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion.
