So sad about the passing of Evelyn. She was my aunt, my late father's sister. 

I will remember Evelyn for her lively spirit, humour and strength of character. 

Despite her age her death came as a surprise to me, she seemed young and vital. 

We will miss you Evelyn, but your memory lives on! x

I am sure that to all who knew her, Evelyn was a great woman and sweet person full of grace.  She was my aunt.  I  respected her many qualities.  Despite surviving polio as a young child and having life-long issues with mobility, Evelyn never complained.  Evelyn was great help to my grandmother Mae and we all appreciated this support.   

When I was young, and later while attending the University of Alberta, I was able to visit Evelyn in Calgary many times.  Unfortunately, after moving to Toronto and having my family, I did not see Evelyn often.  I am happy that Evelyn and Grandma were able to meet my two oldest children, Vanessa and Matthew when we visited Calgary.  Evelyn and I continued to speak on the phone.  Evelyn was very well informed about culture, current affairs and politics.  We  especially enjoyed getting ourselves going about the latest shenanigans of politicians!  Although Evelyn died at age 89 she had a real youthfulness in her spirit.   Evelyn was very supportive and encouraging  (from afar) when she received updates of my children's  sporting activities and accomplishments.  This Thursday I received the sad news of Evelyn's passing.  That evening, when my youngest son, Michael, scored the winning goal during his soccer game, instead of his usual over the top celebration, he simply stopped and pointed to the sky in tribute to Evelyn. 

Please say a prayer for Evelyn and keep her in your hearts.  Evelyn you will be missed!!
